On May 31st, President Barack Obama proclaimed June 2011 to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month in the United States. June is commonly known to be official Pride Month for many major cities around the country, and we're excited to kick off the coming month of Pride celebrations with a commemorative post celebrating the PRIDE of the NOH8 Campaign!
Can you spot the PRIDE! in each of these NOH8 photos?
Each and every one of the portraits displayed throughout this post feature PRIDE colors!
"The story of America's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community is the story of our fathers and sons, our mothers and daughters, and our friends and neighbors who continue the task of making our country a more perfect Union. It is a story about the struggle to realize the great American promise that all people can live with dignity and fairness under the law. Each June, we commemorate the courageous individuals who have fought to achieve this promise for LGBT Americans, and we rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity." - President Barack Obama; May 31, 2011
The NOH8 Campaign will be celebrating Pride Month in Los Angeles this coming weekend with two days of events and opportunities to get involved with the campaign again; or for the very first time! Every single year since the NOH8 Campaign began in late 2008 it has put a NOH8 Team together to bring the activism back to Pride, and we're excited to present various opportunities to get involved during PRIDE Weekend.
On Saturday, June 11th we'll be hosting an Open Photo Shoot at the NOH8 Pride Booth within the LA Pride Festival. Please note entering the festival requires purchasing an entry ticket for the Pride Festival -- available for early purchase now; click here to order online. You will also have the chance to purchase NOH8 merchandise to continue sporting your pride every day. Stop by and say hi!
On Sunday, the NOH8 Campaign will once again be marching in the LA Pride Parade; and all of our supporters in the Los Angeles area are invited to join us free of charge! This event does not require purchasing tickets to the festival; it's a completely open event to celebrate another year of pride and activism!
All the details are available here; so make sure to grab your friends, come out with your white shirts, and BE HEARD!
