Austin Churches Unite for AIDS Relief this Good Friday

Providing HIV and AIDS care and
prevention education since 1987!

Pearle,

This Good Friday, local churches joining together in fellowship and compassion on behalf of thousands of area residents needing assistance living with HIV disease. Serve Our City

On Friday, April 22, nine area churches are uniting for two Good Friday services, 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. The second annual Serve Our City Good Friday services were started last year by Lead Pastor Randy Phillips of PromiseLand West.

An expected 4,000 to 5,000 people will join together on Good Friday, a show of solidarity and fellowship across Christian denominations. Even more unique is the beneficiary of collections: AIDS Services of Austin (ASA). At a time when many churches remain silent on the topic of AIDS, pastors like Gaylon Clark of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church are speaking out on AIDS, encouraging people to know their status and be honest in their relationships.

For AIDS Services of Austin's clients, the collection is vital, especially as Texas legislators balk at fully funding the Texas HIV Medication Program. For ASA Executive Director Paul Scott, "We appreciate the coming together of the community in fellowship to raise awareness, provide support, and offer hope to the thousands of people affected by HIV and AIDS in our community.  The support of Serve Our City means that our clients will receive services critical to saving their lives and living healthily."

All members of the community are invited to join ASA at this event. Admission is free, and details can be found on our website.

Best regards,
AIDS Services of Austin
