HAPPY JULY 4TH –USA INDEPENDENCE DAY 2011 – We are all so fortunate to live in the Land of the Free! I hope y'all had a fabulous June. It was the hottest June on record in Austin. YIKES!! Thank you to all the Members who attended the June Mixer at the ALOFT at the Domain. It was a beautiful breezy evening and we had a great attendance. More than 42 new members joined CapitalCityQSocials and Austin Gay and Lesbian Couples. WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS. We urge you to keep coming back each month to Mix, Mingle and Meet new friends and Network, because we put the WORK back into netWORKing! Since we began our group in February, 2010 over 25 members found employment who were either unemployed or underemployed. Networking face to face is so much more effective than social media such as Facebook or LinkIn. You get to meet, in person and discuss your professional aspirations and passions in a lovely, casual upscale setting - and besides, it is FUN!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Kaytlyn at the ALOFT at the Domain for hosting our Mixer. They did a great job. Also a ZILLION THANKS to Alfred of ALFRED's CATERING for generously providing everyone with delicious hot and cold appetizers. Great Venue, Great Drinks, Great Food and Great Camaraderie.
Naturally, I am so very grateful to our GREETERS, for without them, the warm and friendly atmosphere we create every month would never be the same. To Leo, Pete, Bryan, Mohammad, Bart and Larry, my heartfelt THANKS for doing such a great job!!!
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO BE GREETERS for this and every event. Please reach out by donating your time to your group. We need only 6 GREETERS to help welcome our members and guests as they arrive. DOOR PRIZES -We will continue with our popular DOOR PRIZES as long as our wonderful members and friends keep coming forward with their generous Door Prize donations. So, if you would like to have your business or service showcased in the spotlight for an evening, please feel free to donate a DOOR PRIZE to be given away at our Mixers. The Prize can be anything from a product to a service. The only parameter is that it must have a minimum retail value of $25. So please contact me with your Door Prizes as soon as possible so that I have the opportunity to mention them in my Newsletters prior to the event. AND NOW, I am so very pleased to announce the third "SOCIALS UNDER THE STARS" series of outdoor events. For the very first time, we are presenting our Monthly Mixer in SOUTH AUSTIN. And, in keeping with the SOUTH theme, we proudly present "SAMBA DE JANEIRO"- a South American Kaleidoscope --Monday, July 18th from 7-10pm - hosted by business members of the RAINBOW WEDDING NETWORK. Spearheaded by our own Pete Aranda (BestDJs Texas), this event will be the most joyful and extravagant event we have ever hosted. The setting is HUMMINGBIRD HOUSE, an amazing outdoor/indoor wedding venue that is a tropical paradise. Through the kindness of members of the Rainbow Wedding Network, vendors will be joining together to create an unforgettable evening for you. THIS ONE IS NOT TO BE MISSED!!!
So, join us for a fun-filled evening of mixing, mingling and networking under the stars with some of Austin's prestige GLBT Professionals and their friends. Alex Ponce, our official Club Photographer will be there to take photos! So, bring your smile! DRESS: COLORFUL SUMMER ATTIRE – Shorts O.K. Please note: our summer Mixers are from 7-10pm. SPREAD THE WORD!! INVITE FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES! BRING PLENTY OF BUSINESS CARDS. PLENTY OF FREE AND COMPLIMENTARY VALET PARKING.
Remember, we have choices on where to spend our money. We ask our members to support those businesses that embrace and reach out to the GLBT community. Let us continue to exemplify how valuable the "Gay Dollar" really is to Austin's economy.
