“Jet” Magazine And J. Crew Embracing Fabulous Gay Weddings

In its December 10 issue, Jet magazine features Dr. Ravi Perry and Paris Prince in their “Jet Love” wedding series. The magazine, which has been around for over 60 years, regularly profiles straight couples, but Prince and Perry are the first gay male couple to appear in the biweekly feature.
From the magazine:
Ravi is a Mississippi State University assistant professor. Paris is a compliance officer for the Massachussetts Commission Against Discrimination. The pair met while Ravi was studying for his PhD., but 300 miles separated them. The fact that Paris never complained about the six-hour drive to see his beloved sealed the deal for Ravi.
The two were married in August at their home in Worcester, Massachusetts.
“We are excited and honored to have our wedding featured in the historic yet ever-current Jet Magazine,” Perry and Prince said in a statement.  ”Long the hallmark in publishing news, culture, and events pertaining to the Black American experience, Jet‘s publishing of our union is historic.”
GLAAD applauded Jet for “continuing to highlight the diversity of the African-American community” and urged other media outlets to “recognize that it’s these stories that help grow acceptance of our community and give a voice to LGBT people of color who are too often invisible in the media.”
This comes on the tuxedoed heels of J. Crew featuring the first gay couple in their wedding album.
Benjamin Moore and his husband Ray met in Hudson River Park in New York City – a meeting, they said, that changed their lives forever.
The two were married at the Château du Soudun, an 11th-century castle about three hours outside Paris.
Of their presence in the album, Moore says J. Crew “stepped up big  time.”
